Ramblings of a medicated Chick

As you all may or may not know The Chick here has had quite a few changes lately.  Karma just don't seem to like it when things are smooth and steady for too long.  That bitch came after me, and I've been busting my ass trying to beat hers.  So, sorry I haven't posted in a while to those of you that read the word vomit that I come up with.

I was sitting here tonight in my self-imposed semi-exile bored as shit and tired of my own company.  I haven't been very good company the past two or three months, what with Karma's foolishness.  For that and other, more personal reasons (and no nosey, I'm not telling them to you) I am sick to death of my own company.  In trying to figure out what I could do, I remembered this place.  So, I took a shot of NiQuil, and started writing.

You might be asking yourself, "why the exile?" You're lucky I'm all doped up because I'm gonna tell you.  I am contemplating. Well, contemplating and nursing a killer sinus infection that's got me shooting back NiQuil like Babs from the country club throws back martinis.  In my contemplations/drugged out hallucinations, I've begun to have some clarity.  What was an unfixable mess is now simply an obstacle, I hope.

As you all well know, I pride myself on being the embodiment of my name's sake, only with a bitching rack.  Once I'm done with my exile, and hopefully all of the NiQuil, I plan to come out guns blazing to handle my bidnez.

"Well Chick, that's nice but why should we give a shit?" See, I asked so you wouldn't have to.

You don't really have to give a shit. And I'm willing to bet that most of you won't.  But this is going to go down one way or another, and I'll bet the farm when it does, it won't be the quiet event that it should be.  Mostly, I think this because I'm Chick Norris, and I kick ass and I've got more than my fair share of haters.

Since I'm now relying alley on spell check to write this, I'd better get going for now.  I'd like to ask that you be sending me positive, strengthening vibes over the next few days.  I'll thank you in advance.

Chick's Thoughts On...Plagiarism and The Rapture

I was going to do a fun and funny post about the rapture that didn't happen. I thought that would be a way to lighten up the tone of my blog. I even did a hashtag search for the end of the world confessions and found some real doozies. I didn't want to deprive you so here they are:

#endoftheworldconfessions i might be a cute sweet little blonde ... but i do burp like a man! ;)

#endoftheworldconfessions ive liked all of Britney spears hit songs

I sometimes use mothballs instead of matzo balls #endoftheworldconfessions

I sometimes pay strangers to pre-chew my food for me when dining solo at restaurants #endoftheworldconfessions

#EndOfTheWorldConfessions My hottest sexual fantasy includes Barney, chains and a pickle jar.

#endoftheworldconfessions last week my friend was talking to me and she kinda sorta got me into liking Justin Bieber. A LITTLE

#endoftheworldconfessions I once purposefully made myself get fired from a job...

I only pretend to be gay so I can motorboat girls. I'm actually straight. #endoftheworldconfessions

#endoftheworldconfessions I used to find my parents hidding place for Xmas pressies, open them, play with them and wrap em back up!

I hope everyone enjoyed them, because they were all pretty funny in their own way. Now, the reason I decided to NOT do my post on the rapture that didn't happen is because when I pulled up my Twitter to do a last minute check for a couple more confessions, something crossed my timeline that gave me pause. I saw something touted as an “idea” from someone...only, it wasn't really their idea. That gave ME an idea. I decided that even though I had all these end of the world confessions, I was going to talk about something that I see happening with more and more frequency...plagiarism.

Now, those of you that know me know that I'm not just going to hop up on a soapbox and start spouting bullshit...I'm going to research the hell out of the topic first. I found many great resources dealing with plagiarism. Most of them were geared towards the teacher types, but there were many out there that contained general knowledge about plagiarism. I think that plagiarism.org said it best when they declared that plagiarism was an act of fraud.

This isn't just a problem for school teachers. This is an issue that ALL writers should be aware of. I follow a lot of fan fiction writers on Twitter, and I see it happening more and more to their more popular stories. And they're not even the only ones I see this happening to on Twitter. I also follow a fair number of roleplayers on my account, and I constantly see characters, storylines, names, and everything else being copied.

I know that everyone wants to be popular, or have a great story, or a cool name. Seriously, that's not the problem. The problem is when you take from someone else in order to make this happen. The law doesn't distinguish between stealing words and ideas, and neither do I.

Brace yourselves people, I'm stepping up on the soapbox and passing a message on to all the lame-asses out there that are plagiarizing.

Get real! How bout plagiarizing this idea...COME UP WITH YOUR OWN SHIT. Like I said...just an idea. Stop stealing characters. Stop stealing plot. Just stop stealing and think up something that's all your own. Instead of spending your time thinking about other people's ideas, come up with your own. It's pathetic to see, it's even more pathetic to watch happen. It speaks volumes towards YOUR character, and I'd like to take a moment to point you to my previous posts.

I promise that I would much rather read or see something that might be less developed, but that's original than to see something that's stolen from someone else. I also promise that not only will I NOT be reading something when I KNOW that there has been plagiarism involved in the creation of it, I will be cautioning other readers as well.

And no folks, I'm not calling folks out, or starting a gossip column here. I'm just pointing out a problem that I've seen and passing on a message. I would however like to caution those of you that are writers to watch for plagiarism of your stories, characters, and plot. I'd also like to caution those of you that may be roleplayers to watch for your characters as well.

Now that I've done my little soapbox spiel...Did everybody have a great Rapture?

Chick's Thoughts On...Porn

I like it.  Here, I'll share some:

Ok, I'm just kidding.  But I really am going to talk about porn.  Cause I get called a porn-pusher, a porn h00r, and all various plays on that same thing.  Yeah, I love the nekkie!  Ain't trying to deny that.  But I'm picky with my porn.

I rarely see a shot in color that I don't think looks better in black and white.  My porn collection is nearly all black and white, and the few color pictures that I have, I've also worked my magic with Corel and saved in black and white as well.

I also don't like the "posy-posy" porn pics.  I guess I'm a creeper, cause I prefer the pictures that seem to be caught moments between the couple (or group), or of the person (cause I like me some nekkie solo pics too).

By biggest pet peve with porn is when I can't look at it...just kidding.  My biggest pet peve is when it looks overly staged and unnatural.  There's no reason for that.  The human body is FAR too beautiful of a thing to not be revered, and a good porn pic can do that and tell a story all at the same time.

Chick's Thoughts On...Core Values

I went on an unfollow spree from my personal Twitter account today. I feel surprisingly lighter having done so. I'm sure that I've unfollowed some people that I didn't mean to because hitting that button was so damn liberating and I may have gotten carried away. If I got a little unfollow happy, and you're wondering why you were unfollowed, just ask me. It may have been a mistake on my part.

Why? I'm sure that some of you are wondering why. Well, it's the perfect segue into what I wanted to talk about today. Let me give those of you that don't know a little background about me. I'm retired Air Force, and a disabled veteran. I was forced to retire from the Air Fore, believe me it's the only way they could get rid of me!

While in basic training, I was taught the core values of the Air Force...well taught is a nice word, they were actually hammered into my skull with push-ups! But I digress...Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do.

Those core values are why I have gone on my recent unfollowing spree. Even though I'm retired, I still hold those core values as my own and likely always will. My recent spree has been a result of me realizing that I had over looked certain aspects that those core values represent.

Integrity First

Dictionary.com says that integrity is “adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty” and that's exactly the way that it was explained to me as I was struggling to make it through my first 50 push-ups during basic training. Integrity should ALWAYS be first and foremost in our thoughts, words, and actions. Now, I'm not saying that we all need to hop up on the horse of righteousness and look down on those around us. I'm not saying that at all. What I'm saying is that I'm no longer going to be passive in dealing with my integrity. My Grandma used to always tell me, “Birds of a feather flock together.” Well, this bird is leaving the flock. I'll choose to take my integrity and stand by myself because being happy with who I am and what I believe in when I look in the mirror is far more important than having a shit ton of “friends” that I can't trust further than my Mini-Chicks can toss them.

Service Before Self

The second principle in the Air Force's core values, but no less important than the first. During my time in basic training this was explained in a way that was specific to being in the military...that by signing my contract with the government, I had agreed to place service to my country above service to myself. Well, I'm no longer bound by my contract with the government, but this still applies. Service to others-my family, my friends, the people that I care about-will always come before me in my mind. Those that know me know that I am nearly always willing to drop whatever I'm doing to attend to the needs of someone else. This mantra of service before self has always served me well. Sadly, there are people that will take advantage of this core value, and most of the time I don't mind. I have realized though that there are a few people very close to me whom I've not been serving properly and my spree is going to help me serve them better.

Excellence In All We Do

Probably the most difficult of all of the core values to understand, this final core value is no less important than the other two. It doesn't mean that you have to BE perfect, only that you STRIVE for perfection. In other words, don't half-ass a job just because you can get away with it. Do the best that you can, and then improve that a little. I have not been showing excellence in all that I do. I have become complacent. I have been letting outside influences affect me. Well, no more. This is me putting my foot down. I will no longer let anything inside or outside of myself keep me from being the best me that I can possibly be.

I really think that our society as a whole could really benefit from each and every person embracing the core values of the Air Force. They aren't specific to any one religion, or set of beliefs, other than the belief that as individuals we should strive to be the best people that we can be, and help those around us to be the best that they can be. Now that I've taken a step back, and reevaluated the different aspects of my life, I am going to work as hard as I can to live up to these core values. After all, I didn't do all those push-ups for nothing.

Chick's Thoughts On...Respect

People always talk about “earning respect” well, personally I think that respect is something that should be given with no qualifiers. I mean really, how would you go about “earning” respect? Kissing ass? No thank you. You should always be treating people the way you want them to treat you. So I think that the bigger issue is really how can we be worthy the respect that is given to us by others? The biggest part of respect though is treating people the way you want to be treated. This means that even if someone is a raging bitch to you, you still treat them the way you want them to treat you. Respect is actually taking 2.3 seconds of your time to think about other people before you act. It doesn't make you a pussy for doing it. It doesn't reflect a weakness. It's not all that hard to do this. Just think...remember those 2.3 seconds, well this is where they come in to play. Would you like it if someone lied to you, misled you? Most likely not. Does this mean that people are perfect? Hell no. No one is perfect. But taking some time to remember that will go a long way towards treating others with the respect that you'd like to be treated with. Respect is not hiding your thoughts behind anonymous statements, or passive aggressive jabs. Respect, for yourself and others is characterized by growing a set of balls and standing up for what you believe and also admitting when you're wrong.

And those are my thoughts on respect. What are yours, because I'm sure I've missed some huge point of respect that I fully intended on mentioning. Take a minute and leave me your thoughts on respect.

Welcome From Chick

Thanks for checking out my blog. I'll warn you now, it's most likely going to be a scary place. I fully intend on posting whatever is on my mind. Ask the folks that know me and they'll tell you that there is no rhyme or reason to my thoughts. I'm sorta known for being random.

I'm also known for being honest, totally and completely honest. That's kinda where I came up with the name. I promise, you'll get nothing but the real deal from me. If I mention something I've read and liked, then I really liked it. I don't kiss ass.

Don't look for a schedule or anything...I'm gonna post when the mood hits me. Might be a lot, might not be, who knows?

As for what I'm gonna be posting, who knows that either. Could be that the lady at the bank pisses me off and I'll do a post on proper customer service techniques, could be that I read a fanfic that I just adore, could be that someone asks me a question and I just decide to answer it here, could be I've got an idea and want to share it with the universe. Just be prepared for anything.
